先ほどの質問が緑色の文字でしたので再送します。
The leaves in autumn are a beautiful color.の文について質問します。
“leaves”が複数形であり、動詞も“are”と複数形なのに、何故 "a beautiful color”と“a"が付くのですか？
The leaves in autumn are beautiful color.と言ってはいけないのですか？もしくは、The leaves in autumn are beautiful colorｓ.としてはいけませんか？

気になりますね。
「leaves in autumn」は複数の葉っぱに注目するので複数形になりますが、それらの複数の葉っぱが作り出す「1つの綺麗な色」と表現する場合に「The leaves in autumn are a beautiful color」という場合があります。

「綺麗な色たち」という意味で「The leaves in autumn are beautiful colors.」と複数形にしても大丈夫ですが、「The leaves in autumn are beautiful color.」は不自然とネイティブの人たちに思われるでしょう。
