the leaves in autumn are a beautiful color. という表現がありますが、いろんな色合いがあるのでbeautiful colorsと思わず言いそうです。この場合はbeautiful colorsでは変ですか？ また、the leaves in autumn have beautiful colors. ではどうでしょうか？

質問いただきました２点について回答いたします。
Q1. The leaves in autumn are beautiful colors.とは言えないのか？
A1.The leaves in autumn are a beautiful color.のみ正しい表現となります。
■ 補足
“紅葉”にはたくさんの色合い（赤、オレンジ、茶色....など）がありますが、“紅葉の色”は誰もが共通認識としてイメージできるため、まとめてa beatiful colorと表現します。
Q2.The leaves in autumn have beautiful colors.
A2.こちらは正しい表現となるので、この場合はbeautiful colorsと使うことができます。
■ 補足
The leaves in autumn are a beautiful color.
The leaves in autumn = a beautiful color.
「秋の紅葉は、 = （誰もが知っているあの）綺麗な色」と言う表現ですが、
一方で、
The leaves in autumn have beautiful colors.
